WHAT IS
Facial Filler USED FOR?
Many people know that it is a dermal filler that can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, make lips bigger, and help patients achieve smoother skin. However, it can also be used for non-cosmetic purposes, like reducing migraines, TMJ pain, and teeth clenching and grinding. Facial filler works by temporarily freezing certain muscles, so patients cannot unconsciously clench or grind their teeth at night, which can instantly relieve pain and tension.
HOW LONG DOES
facial filler LAST?
Facial filler treatments typically last from three to six months on average. It may take up to a week to see the full results of your treatment, so if you aren’t totally happy with your results right away, we recommend waiting at least a week before scheduling a follow-up visit. After a few treatments, you will notice that you can wait longer and longer in between visits because the facial muscles become weaker and don’t move as much as they used to.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER I GET MY FACIAL FILLER TREATMENT?
After your facial filler treatment, you will want to avoid rubbing or touching your face for at least 24 hours while it settles where it’s supposed to, otherwise it could be moved around. You will also want to keep your head elevated, avoid bending over, and keep exercise to a minimum during this time as well. There might be a little bruising or swelling at first, but there’s no downtime involved, so you’re free to make plans right after your appointment!
WHY SHOULD I GET facial fillers AT THE DENTIST?
Dentists are very well-educated when it comes to knowledge about the teeth, gums, and jaw, but they also have a lot of knowledge pertaining to the muscles in the face and how they work together. This means that after completing training, dentists are actually well-qualified to perform facial filler treatments both for cosmetic and non-cosmetic reasons. Plus, it’s a quick treatment that you can get right after your cleaning and exam!
